I just got a 2021 UX250h AWD, thinking it would be a great commuter car for my wife. But I’m a bit confused about the gas mileage. According to the car, I’m getting around 35-36 MPG, which seems normal for mostly highway driving. But when it comes to the range, it feels a bit off. After filling up, the range is shown as around 370 to 390 miles, but after driving about 150 miles, it says I’ve got just over half a tank and only 150 miles left.
I took it to the dealer, and while they kept the car for two days, they said everything is working fine. The service writer mentioned the range might be affected by how I’m driving (highway driving vs. city driving) or using accessories, but it still feels like something’s off.
I really want to like this car, but I expected better mileage, especially since one of the sales pitches was that it could make a 350-mile trip on a single tank. I even joked with the salesman about it, but he backed off the claim, saying he was talking about his Camry instead (yeah, right).
So, is it just me? Is the electric motor or hybrid battery not pulling its weight? Anyone else experience something similar with the UX250h?
