Oil pump failure??

Last Thursday, while on a road trip, I noticed a burning oil smell and saw smoke coming from the car. I took it to the dealer yesterday, and they diagnosed a soft code for oil pump failure. They said it's okay since it's only a soft code and they won't replace the pump. Do you guys think this is a good choice?

What did your dealer do instead of just figuring out what was wrong? Did they swap the oil or at least checked the pressure?

Yup, they replaced it and did a pressure check.

So I decided to have my oil pump replaced and now it's all good...

If there’s smoke and a burning smell, I’d push for a replacement. A “soft code” might still indicate serious issues.

I agree with this. Hope it's been sorted out by now.
